12 classic Hong Kong films reappear Xiangjiang Fenghua, and Guangdong multi-city co-organized the Hong Kong Film Exhibition.
From June 23rd, Guangdong will hold the "Xiangjiang Fenghua in Guangyingwan District-Hong Kong Film Exhibition to Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return to the Motherland" in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Zhuhai, Dongguan and Zhongshan. Each city will be shown for one to two weeks, and it is estimated that 12 classic Hong Kong films will be exhibited, which will last for nearly two months.
The activity of "Xiangjiang Fenghua in Guangyingwan District-Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return to the Motherland" was directed by Guangdong Film Bureau, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Guangdong Provincial People’s Government, Creative Hong Kong of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, supported by Bauhinia Culture Group Co., Ltd. and China Film Association, and sponsored by Guangdong Film Industry Association, Guangdong Film Association and Hong Kong Film Development Council. The main purpose of this exhibition is to start from the Bay Area, radiate the whole country, and promote the construction of the Humanities Bay Area with light and shadow as the link.
Speaking of the "golden signboard" of Hong Kong culture, there must be Hong Kong movies. From the past to the present, the Hong Kong film and television industry has created countless classic masterpieces that have left a deep impression on the audience. These films are all expressing profound values such as homesickness, cultural nostalgia and national righteousness, and they are a shining section of China’s film pedigree. This screening featured 12 Hong Kong classic films, which will once again show the beauty of Hong Kong.
With the development of Greater Bay Area’s integration, the film industry in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao has also ushered in a new development opportunity. With this film festival, Southern Reporter interviewed Wang Xiao, Jiang Zhiqiang, William Chan, Gao Zhisen, Wen Juan and Wei Junzi, and listened to their views on the integrated development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao films!

Wang Xiao, Party Secretary of Guangdong Federation of Literary and Art Circles
This year coincides with the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland. It is hoped that through this film screening of the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, we can witness the achievements of Greater Bay Area’s film integration and development, show the close ties between Guangdong and Hong Kong, and enhance the sense of identity of the Chinese nation. I also hope that by taking this opportunity, filmmakers in Guangdong and Hong Kong can deepen their understanding and learn from each other, give full play to the advantages of Hong Kong film talents and Guangdong film market, attract more high-quality resources, broaden their development space and revitalize the market. I believe that Guangdong filmmakers in the new era will be able to forge ahead, be upright and innovative, use focus plane to reflect the new atmosphere and new features of Lingnan, use colorful screens to show the new struggles and creations of the people of South Guangdong, create and launch more outstanding works worthy of the times and the people, and strive to continuously create new glories in the process of building a strong film province.

Now that I have Greater Bay Area, I think the future of Guangdong and Hong Kong movies is bright. This also brings more opportunities for us who make Cantonese movies. Because this market is very big, I think this is a very beautiful thing and will be very well integrated.

Works: The Storm, swords of legends and Petition.
I have always paid close attention to Hong Kong movies, and they are getting better and better. I hope that Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao can integrate and develop, and there will be more room for cooperation. I also hope that there will be more and more film themes, and friends from the Mainland and Hong Kong will support them. I made a red movie "Storm" with director Chen Jiashang and brother Wang Qianyuan. I hope I can meet you soon!

When it comes to making movies in Greater Bay Area cities outside Hong Kong, I think there are three interesting aspects. First, about urban life, there are many unique things to explore in Greater Bay Area. For example, I recently stayed in a hotel. The robot will deliver the food to the door and chat with me in the elevator. This robot is very cute. I chatted with my friends in Hong Kong, and they were also interested in robots.
For example, I recently filmed the Cantonese opera "Thirteen Langs in the South China Sea" in Foshan. It took me a long time to find out that there are many stories about kung fu, not only Huang Feihong and Lu Achai, which is another space to explore.
Finally, I want to talk about comedy. In fact, there are many comedy themes here. For example, The Seventy-two Tenants, which was very successful in Hong Kong in the past, originated from the Shanghai Comic Troupe. Later, Zhuying made a black-and-white version in the 1960s, and director Chu Yuan also used it to remake it in the mid-1970s. In fact, in other cities in Greater Bay Area, the themes of these comedies can be gradually absorbed and transplanted.
Director Wen Juan.
Works: Sunny Days, Fengyun, man called hero, Perceived Feeling, Young and Dangerous.
In the early 1990s, I went back to the mainland to make a film, including Farewell to the Forbidden City, and in 1992, I made a film "Heroes on the Narrow Road", in which Jiang Wen and Wan Ziliang ran all the way from Inner Mongolia grassland to Shenzhen and once from north to south. (Finished) These two films make me feel more strongly that our films are also related to our horizons, and we must go back to China to shoot. Therefore, in the next two or three decades, my career was mainly developed in the mainland, and my film career also saw Sunny Days. After the Millennium, I successively filmed People on the Road, No.81 Beijing and Bruce Lee, in fact, I established a deep affection with mainland films. I congratulate the opening of the Hong Kong film exhibition! I can’t come back because of the epidemic, but I miss the fans in Guangdong very much. When I go through customs, I will find time to come back and communicate with you.
Director Wei Junzi.
Works: "Dragon and Tiger Martial Master" and "Arrogant"
Congratulations on the opening of the Hong Kong film exhibition! I mentioned in my documentary "Dragon Tiger Warrior" that "the hope of Hong Kong action movies lies in the mainland", which is actually a kind of inheritance. Hong Kong’s action movies have been co-produced with the mainland since the 1980s. By the 1990s, all the action filmmakers represented by Tsui Hark had entered the mainland, which is called "going northward". They brought some professional experience of Hong Kong film industry and a group of action film talents. After 2000, the film and television dramas in mainland China began to develop rapidly, and a number of action guides came into being, led by a group of Hong Kong action film teams like Brother Sammo Hung and yuan kui. Such filmmakers from generation to generation have inherited the genre experience and fighting spirit of Hong Kong action movies and developed step by step.
Strengthen communication
Compose a new movement of Greater Bay Area film culture.
2022 is the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland. In the past 25 years, the process of integration and development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao has gradually accelerated. The release of the Outline of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Plan in 2019 has promoted the in-depth exchange and cooperation of talents in various industries. Nowadays, the star-studded Hong Kong film industry has gradually integrated into the film development in Greater Bay Area, and the integration of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao has added more light to the film industry in Greater Bay Area.
In terms of talent exchange, the exchange of film talents between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao has become increasingly close. For example, in 2021, Emperor Entertainment, a well-known film company in Hong Kong, set up its Greater Bay Area headquarters in Guangzhou, which deeply promoted the exchange of film and television entertainment industry, and more and more Hong Kong film and television talents developed "northward".
Technically, the cooperation and exchange of film technology between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao is leading a batch of brand-new film works to meet the audience. For example, in 2022, Shock Wave 2, a co-production of Guangdong and Hong Kong, won the Best Editing Award of the 34th China Film Golden Rooster. This film absorbed the technological advantages of Hong Kong’s film industry and gathered the experience and technology of Hong Kong and Macao films. It is a model for the integrated development of Guangdong and Hong Kong, and more works on the integrated development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao are meeting with the audience.
Shock Wave 2, a co-production of Guangdong and Hong Kong, won the Best Editing Award of the 34th China Film Golden Rooster.
In the industry, the exchanges between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao film and television enterprises are also getting closer. For example, Hong Kong International Film and Television Exhibition attracts a large number of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area film and television enterprises every year, opening up a new path for the development of Greater Bay Area films. It is worth noting that more Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area film exchange and cooperation platforms are gradually being built.
The holding of related film festivals and activities will gradually create a better industry atmosphere for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area films. Up to now, Greater Bay Area has hosted China (Guangzhou) International Children’s Film Exhibition, China (Guangzhou) International Documentary Festival, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangzhou) Film Night, Guangzhou University Student Film Exhibition, Foshan (Greater Bay Area) Kung Fu Film Week and Hong Kong Film Guangdong Exhibition Week.
There are more communication platforms that are playing a role. For example, the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Film Creation Investment Exchange Conference", which was initiated in 2014, continued to provide a high-quality and convenient platform for the investors and producers of film works in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, established a cooperation channel for film investment in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, focused on supporting small and medium-cost films, and promoted the integrated development of Greater Bay Area’s film industry; The training courses for film directors and producers in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao continue to provide learning and exchange opportunities for talents in the film and television industry in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
On the upstream of film-the construction of film and television base, Greater Bay Area film industry is also gradually advancing. According to research, at present, Guangdong film and television bases or industrial parks are mostly distributed in the Pearl River Delta region, and there are eight film and television bases or industrial parks in Guangzhou. More and more works are going to the whole country and the world from these film and television bases, constantly telling the stories of the Bay Area and China.
In addition, regular invitations to famous domestic filmmakers to Guangzhou for exchanges, joint construction of "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Filmmakers’ House" and continuous activities such as "premiere in Guangzhou" have also continuously enhanced the brand influence of films in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
The exhibition has brought new vitality to the film exchange in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is understood that the film festival selected 12 Hong Kong classic films. While reviewing the past Hong Kong classic films, it focused on the current situation of film cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao after the reunification, and looked forward to the development prospects of more films in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao after the reunification, fully rallying the consensus, wisdom and strength of all walks of life in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to promote the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and contributing to the construction of the Humanities Bay Area.
From June 17th, more than 60 celebrities, big coffee makers, artists, directors and screenwriters from Hong Kong, Macao and the Mainland will cheer for "Xiangjiang Fenghua in Guangyingwan District". Including Huo Qigang and other dignitaries, Jiang Zhiqiang, Yang Shoucheng, Lin Jianyue, Li Guoxing, Yin Li, Yin Hong and other industry giants, Alan Tam, Andy Lau, Louis Koo, Ren Dahua, Wu Zhenyu, Aaron Kwok and other famous artists, Gao Zhisen, Li Lizhi, Chen Jia and other first-class directors, Lu Fang, Zhou Shen and other singers.
